When do you think the Merom would be put in the MacBook Pro line - http://guides.macrumors.com/Merom

Also this buyers guide says they're about due:
http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/

One more merom info link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core_2#Merom

It appears they run slightly faster, support the 64 bit archetecture that will be native in Leopard, and run about the same temp as the current (Yonah) core duos. (please correct me if I'm off)

Do you think they'll put them in the MacBooks at the same time or will they try to differentiate the two more?

More info - The Merom is not supposed to be available in "sufficient quantity" until mid - late August (from what i've read).

One of the problem is that http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/ is the old paradigm. We don't know if Apple is going to stay with the old update patterns or start something new and different.

that buyers guide thing is usually pretty off. they didnt switch it to "dont buy" until 2 days before WWDC. IM my opinion, i think merom will be in the MBP lineup before x-mas

We just plain don't know what Apple is going to do period. We never did.

Anyone that says they do and doesn't work for Apple is just guessing. Just like any of us could do.

If I remember correctly, Intel won't ship Meroms in-mass to manufacturers until the beginning of Sept... many college students were about that.

I was hoping that Apple would have shed light on updates for the MBP at WWDC, but given Intel's scheduling and Apple's tendency to simultaneously sell and product launch... just wasn't likely.

So, do the processors in the macbook pros right now not support 64 bit?

I realize it's a little early to ask, but if the processors now don't support 64 bit how is this going to affect the way leopard runs on the macbook pro?

Thanks,

Leopard will run on 32-bit processors, it's just optimized for 64-bit. Otherwise, EVERY single mac user would have to buy a new mac. Now think, how many users to you think Steven Jobs would lose if he did that?
