I have a terrabyte of hd space in my quad, but decided that I do need more.
Was thinking about taking those out and putting them in enclosures and adding 2 of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148134 into the quad. I can not find any information about them being mac compatible and was curious if anybody knew if they would be? Thanks for any advice.. other hard dive suggestions are also welcome.

I don't know why it wouldn't be, it's an SATA drive. Nothing there looks out of the ordinary to me. Nearly everything is backwards compatible and there are no single drive size limits on the Quads.

BTW, what are you using to shoehorn more drives into the Quad?

I actually just was going to replace the ones in there, and use the ones that are in there now for back-up. I do like the idea of shoehornning though, I will research that Idea and will get back to you.

I've seen, and considered, that before. I was just curious, but upgrading the drives should be sweet too.

You must not collect Music or Video. I have over 2Tb of storage space hooked up to my Quad these days..

I've got over 600Gb of music and 300Gb of video and growing. I don't even keep track of pictures anymore because they are so small in comparison, maybe 40 or 60Gb worth....

How much of the music do you actually enjoy and listen to that you have? I have an 80gb hd that is almost full of music, but I like it all and it's all in my itunes and I listen to it on a daily basis.

I listen to a lot of it but admittedly I have more than I will ever listen to. It's all in MP3 (128k-320k depending on the origination source, some of the Audiobooks are as low as 60k) or 128K AAC. To put it into perspective, I have over 81,000 music track in iTunes and about 8,000 of those are duplicates since my collection is album based. I have over 4000 Video tracks in iTunes as well. ALL of my video is H.264 320x240 iPod format.

I run a videography company, I have music on my computer for use in the videos, and alot of video footage. I also have jump backs and other HD sources. I even have over 20gb in fonts. I am thinking I will need atleast 3 terrabytes by the end of the year, and I am thinking to have all of that internal, and next year add 2 more external hard drives. Eventually get a xserve and an xserve raid. When you are in a business like this.. space does not seam to last very long. I filled the terrabyte in my system a while ago and I am now only keeping things on there that I will need more often, everything else is on DVD's that I will go to every now and then.
