Idiot Proof Backup Solution?

A friend just bought an Intel-based iMac. Is there an idiot proof backup solution that is simple to use and schedule-able? Thanks!

If you have a .mac account, you can download an app called "Backup," which literally backs up all of your files on a schedule, and you can even select specific files to back up.

Otherwise I suggest you buy an external hard drive.
