window sizes

its like you buy a new computer and you forget how to do the simple stuff... everytime i open a finder window its small and i have to stretch it to show all my applications. how do i make it so it stays to a size where i could atleast see a full horizontal row? thx!

Open the Finder - set the window how you like it - close window. (dont click anywhere else)
Next time you open it, should be set.
