I own two...for the moment.

I just bought a MacBook to replace my PowerBook, so I'm currently trying to sell the PowerBook. But...until that happens, I own two! :D

Here is my problem.

I just bought a MacBookPro for law school. I spent nearly 2k on the entire thing a month and a half ago and am very happy with it. I had the money for it thus am not in debt or anything.

I am thinking about buying a Mac Desktop computer for my Office upstairs but am VERY worried if the price of the Desktop is actually going to be worth it.

Is it really worth $2000-$2500 to buy a desktop upstairs?

I dunno, I have the money but its close.

Well, what do you want to do with the desktop? Are you going to be doing gaming and 3d modelling or just web browsing and music? If you don't have huge requirements for the computer then a Mac Mini or an iMac might be better for you than a PowerMac or MacPro.

Hmm, wait.
I think we might see Core 2 Duo (Conroe) desktops soon.

You can get an iMac for less than $2000.

You'll likely see them in iMacs and Mac Minis, but probably not in Intel PowerMacs.

I think we'll more likely see the Merom in the iMac and Mac Mini, as it is the mobile version of the Core 2. Since the Conroe is a desktop chip it will probably be the base processor for the MacPro, with the quad Woodcrest at the top of the line.

My Mac Desktop would be for my office work and/or Music/Videos, ext....generally my home computer.

I use my MBP for Law School and moving around from house to house for personal reasons.

I got the go-ahead to purchase a Mac Desktop but am contemplating whether to wait for Leopard in 2007.
