how exactly do I open/install these? my buddy sent me some new brushes for photoshop, but I'm pretty much stuck on how to even open this file.

There are a few programs out there. I use betterzip --> www.betterzip.com
You can get WinRar but it's not as great as the one mentioned above

yes, it does. On my computer stuffit opens .rar files fine, with no issues

UnRARX works better than Stuffit on RAR files...

I downloaded UnRARX and it works fine. Now my question is how can I divide a file in RAR parts on the Mac? Can Stuffit do it? If so, how it's done, or, for that matter, which software can do the task? I'm trying to divide a 1GB file in three RAR parts but no success so far.

Same program...UnrarX.
Might want to zip or Stuff it first to preserve the resource fork.
