Is Firefox a good idea on a macbook?

Hello all,
I heard great stuff about safari. Currently I am using firefox and loving it.
Was just wondering if it is a good idea to use firefox on a macbook.
Before I mess up my macbook, wanted to get the general consensus.

Yeah sure, if that's the browser for you, go ahead and install it!

You won't mess your mac up merely by installing regular apps...
If you like Firefox, also be sure to check out camino (caminobrowser.org) which is based on the same platform as Firefox, but is a OS X native implementation.

I love Firefox, especially with the addition of Google Browser Sync to keep my Firefox favorites synced between my desktop and my laptop.

Firefox is good, I love it's type-to-search feature. But I miss the "Got to Address" feature and the dictionary. Those are great Apple-esque things. Safari is also well integrated into the system which is a plus for me.

you may think that, but the browser that is the 'best' is the browser that best suits the individual users needs

I used Firefox back when I used Windows. So when i made the switch to mac, i started using firefox on mac as well. I love it, except I always have trouble with the add ons like mouse gesgures and FireFTP.

I am getting addicted to Safari.

I used Firefox for windows because I hate IE that much. I don't hate Safari

Firefox is really customizable and it has some really amazing add-ons. I am a huge fan of a couple in particular:

• Web developer toolbar
• Color picker
• RSS headlines

I have used Camino as well and I like it. It is fast, has a clean (Apple-like interface) and frankly I think it is better than Safari. Firefox is just more to my liking.

I used Firefox on Windows and I stuck with Firefox on my Mac because of the extensions and the fact that it can force new windows into tabs, where Safari can't.

I wonder how Camino is compared to Firefox.
I am going to do a comparison search.

Heh all goofy analogies aside, Firefox does take up less Ram, and most portable computer users will agree that Ram and battery conservation are among top priorities.

I recently switched from Safari to Firefox. As everyone has mentioned, it's really what you like personally that will drive the decision. My decision was based on the RAM usage (although I have now upgraded to 2gb so that's no longer a concern) and the familiarity from using Firefox on a PC. I have a 7 year old at home and it's easier for me to set up Firefox for him to use (ie, leaving the sidebar open for bookmarks). The only issue I'm having with Firefox is that some of the extensions are not available for the Mac OS. There are always work arounds, so again, not a big deal.

If you get Camino with Camitools, you will never use FF again. Camino is faster better banner blocking than ad-block, true it doesn't have all those extensions, but who needs them.

From where do you get the camitools?

Camino is sick. I just switched between Firefox to Camino and its just a lot cleaner adn you can tell it was designed with OSX in mind
