I have a iBook G4 and I had not started it up in a while and I did last night and there is an upside down "L" shape on the screen that is white and several other colors, the mouse and all folders seem to go behind it like that part of the screen is not there, it really prohibits using the computer and doesn't seem to be going away. I have restarted and still it is there. Any chance this can be fixed or is it pretty much toast?

Try resetting the PRAM and see if that works:

1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.

See if that does the trick.

I just did that and it still appears as in the picture above.

A wire connecting the LCD screen to the MB is lose/disconnected.
Either:
A) Open your Mac and push the wires back in
or
B) If it is still under warranty take it into an Apple store

Nevermind, I found it. I will give that a try and report back when I do.

Any chance it would have anything to do with the logic board? I am being told by others it may. It was one that a while back had the recall and the logic board was replaced. Any chance its acting up again?

Also very possible...
Unfortunately there is not extended logic board replacement for the iBook G4's, so if that really is the case, you'll have to pay to get it replaced.

One way you could check this is by connecting an external monitor quickly. If the screen in messed up there too, most likely it's the board. If not, the cable might just need re-seating.
