upgrading ram and HD void warranty?

after a quick search seems like HD upgrade will void it, but what about ram? didnt see anything about that

I did dedicate 9 gigs to XP though so...

I guess I'll just get a external HD or something, perhaps a 60 gig ipod and use it as a HD as well

many ppl do that with their iPod

man, I wish my LCD screen was white... it would match up real nice... but its black

maybe I SHOULD have spent the 200 extra bux and gotten teh black macbook... (I did hear in time the handrest etc. gets all glossy from friction from hands and stuff though)

Okay, I know we get asked a lot of repeat questions here, but occasionally it's worth looking into the matter anyway guys - don't just shoot from the hip.

The macbook's harddrive is covered by the same metal cover that is over the RAM compartment. So when you access the RAM bay, the harddrive is easily removed by tugging the plastic strip attatched to it.

You will NOT void your warranty by replacing the harddrive OR ram in your macbook. (Apple even provides end-user instructions on how to do it).

This is a first for apple's laptops and does not apply to any other 'books (Macbook Pro, iBook, Powerbook harddrives are all non end-user replaceable)

great news! i plan on maxing out my 13.3 80GB macbook to 2 GBram very soon. photoshop has been owning my ram lately.

Just wanted to ask if someone could post what HDD exactly would I need to purchase so I can upgrade my MB and also how do I go about saving the items from my current HDD?

It doesn't void the warranty but make sure you keep the original Apple OEM parts to swap back in. If you need to send it to Apple for repair, they won't perform work on it unless it is dead-stock.
