problem with AVI video files

i was wondering if anyone could help me on this . .


i having trouble with various AVI files on quicktime and other players

the problem is that thers no sound in these videos, and when i open em up it directs me to the Quicktime components website, and i dont see any other codecs on there that would help me

also, i have the latest DiVX codec intalled on my mac

i was wondering if anyone knows if there is any program i can download to resolve this, or anything at all

Well it's sort of hard to tell you what to do then. Just do a search on the forums and hopefully someone else's solution will help you.

i guess VLC worked for me afterall :D

is there anyway i can get VLC to work as a player in the media player where u use the remote to navigate through, i donno, its prob a stupid question

look at cradoms post, he has alll the links you need to play avis in quicktime.

There is VLC Media Player. You can use that. There was a thread telling all the formats that VLC could play but i can't seem to find that. But just get VLC Media Player from VERSION TRACKER and it will do the job.

i think that is my thread i made a while ago, ill have to search for it as well

This may soudn funny, but after I installed VLC and rebooted once or twice AVI files that USED TO not play in Quicktime did. Maybe give it a try now that VLC perhaps gave you the proper audio codecs.

interesting logan.

my thoughts are that you installed some codecs that needed a restart in order to operate properly and you didnt restart until after you installed vlc......

VLC could work, or you could convert them into .mp4 using iSquint.
