I am looking at an iBook for school with theese specs:

15.2'' G4
500mhz processor
768mb ram
30gb HD
Super-Drive

Do you think that would be fast enough, or efficient enough to even run Photoshop, iMovie, Final Cut at a decent rate?

nope, 500mhz wont run photoshop very well at all, sorry. It will not run final cut pro either.

You need 800mhz+ g4 for final cut pro to even work decently... that is unless you want to use FCP 2.0..

I'd get a referbished ibook g4, or even a used ibook g4. I got my ibook g4 from someone on mac-forums for around $600! and it was a g4 1.33 ghz

Ahh. What about iMovie? I could just use that for editing....Also, would the machine work pretty swift?

that would be great!

What version of Final Cut pro do you plan on using? I can get you the minimul system specs for different versions of FCP if you need them..

I don't know. That would be great. If the guy excepts the deal on the iBook with the 500mhz Processor will anb older version od FCP do? I won't be using Photoshop as much.

I use Photoshop CS on my iBook in the side. It doesn't run fast, but it works good enough to do what I need.

You do realize that there was never a G4 iBook with those specs right? There were 500Mhz G3 iBooks though, but I wouldn't get a G3 as certain programs are only compatible with the G4 processor.

There was a 15" Powerbook G4 with 500 Mhz, but it wasn't available with Superdrive, so that must be after-market (assuming this is an actual offer you have).
