Well I always buy the exta warranty on notebooks because they're more prone to defects/issues than a desktop. Mostly because they're moved around alot and bumped, etc. I would rather pay $250 once than pay $700.00 to get it repaired if something happened. I've never had a notebook that hasn't needed at least one repair.

I don't have Apple care, and have been lucky so far. I have the either the first or second addition Ti powerbook. I have had no problems with it.

I got applecare when i got my powerbook the other day because of the student discounts i got it was practically free and it got rid of the installation charge on my airport card and memory upgrade so it all worked out to be saving money by getting it. plus the guy said that if you need to have the lcd display repaired it is 2000 yes 2000 dollars to repair of 15" powerbook screen
