Sources inside one of Apple's existing LCD panel suppliers report that "final prototype work has been completed" for a 30-inch Cinema Display with 2400x1500 pixel resolution and "extremely high color saturation" levels.
The upcoming oversize Cinema Display is said to be based upon the newest generation of fabrication technology derived from the QUXGA and QUXGAW panels marketed under the IBM brand, and by several companies specializing in medical imaging displays. However, at approximately 94 pixels per inch display density, this Apple iteration much more closely approximates the popular desktop LCD density range of 90 to 100 pixels per inch than do those other ultra-dense resolution units.
No further information is known at this time about this new display.
