my cousins mac book g3 starts then shows a file with the mac logo then a ?mark whats wrong with it idk what to do were so confused, now i try to pop in a os x disk and it wont boot up what should i do i can reformat with out the os disk botting :(

Mac Pro 8x3.0ghz 12gb ram 8800GT , MBP 2.16 2GB Ram 17 inch.
after the ?mark does it eventually move into the os? sometimes it will just hang there and go into the os. If it does, can you look at the disk in disk utility, repair the disk and repair permissions.
