My icons in the system preferences have changed to some kind of generic hybrid. They are the light switch with a small, very small, icon of the action they affect in the lower left hand corner of each one. Anyone know how to restore them to their original big icon?

Running 10.4.7 on a 12" Powerbook G4 with 1.25 ghz of RAM

Well, you could try using CandyBar, to restore your icons to their system defaults. Dunno how your system got to the way it is now, but hope this helps...

I had the same thing happen to me. The fix is easy but not obvious(atleast not to me). Here ya go: quit System Preferences and delete the ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache file
