Hi, can I set my folders to always open in List view (not column view)?

When you open the folder that you want to open as a list, just go to:
View>As List
Then close that window. The next time you open it, it will be in list view.

You will have to do this for every folder that you want in list view. As far as I know, there is no global setting for this.

It's strange, in the Finder preferences, there is a global check box that will always open a finder window in *column* view, but not for icon or list view!

I'm posting this as it took me forever to find a GLOBAL solution

I couldn't believe how "undocumented" and hard this was to figure out.

The desired view will "take" if

- you are currently on an Administrator account, and
- you change the view (via the view selectors) while the Home account/folder is selected.
