Mac Book Pro, 1.83 GHz, 1.5 gigs RAM, 80 GB, AND NO HEAT ISSUES!!
how do i get it to work? specifically, recording things? I know that there is one, because of iChat, but could someone clear this up for me?

You just talk...it should automatically pick up your voice. Otherwise your mic is broken.

The microphone is located somewhere near the speakers, I think.

you may need to go in to System preferences>Sound>Input

Then select 'internal microphone' if it isn't already.
