Macbook Pro 2.2GHz Intel i7 W/16GB Ram & 256GB SSD
I bought my wife the $20 version (only has two fans and not three) at best buy when we got her macbook. she is home all of the time and plugged in so the battery isnt an issue. It does keep the macbook pretty cool. For us it was worth the money.

i dont have no mac's
i use a podium pad for my tibook, it just lifts it off the desk to allow air flow. no fans or anything jut a lil stand, works well for what it is

I would figure you could rig up something your self w/ some extra cpu/cooling fans at probally half the cost. Just gotta be creative :)
