Wireless third-party adapter

Hi.
At first I'm happy to join the "Apple-gang". I've been working with PCs for 15 years and now decided to get a Apple iBook G4 for myself. It didnt come with Aiport Card, so I bought third-party wireless adpter with drivers for Mac. It is installed now and Mac shoes it up as well. Problem is, it won't connect to my wireless network. It just says CONNECTING ... and that is it. I tried the same adapter with a PC I have and connected straight away. BTW, I have no security features on wireless connection at the moment to make the connecting as painless as possible. Under network preferences it shoes up Ethernet adapter (en1) but no IP address or any other addresses given.

Hopefully someone can give me some guidelines what I'm doing wrong.

Regards,

Kirret

Your Mac's Specs
Aluminium Macbook 2.4 Ghz 4GB RAM, SSD 24" Samsung Display, iPhone 4, iPad 2
Most USB Wlan sticks seem to have issues under OS X, even though they are "mac compatible"...

Personally I'd just grab apple's airport extreme card that you can add internally. No hassle, smashing reception (the aerial is in the display) and "it just works".

Should cost you around 70$ though...
