New To Mac, Network Folder Question

Okay so this is my first Mac (macbook) and I pretty much have everything down and I am loving it. BUT, I was wondering why my Network folder is appearing on my desktop? I like having a network with my PC on it but I only want the folder in the HD folder not the desktop. How do I do this?

Finder Menu > Preferences > General > uncheck Connected Servers
