Logic Board Problems

If your G5 iMac is not running as it should:

Unexpected shutdowns
Video distortion
etc.

It could be the your logic board is fryed. To check that your logic board is healthy.

Open up your iMac (unscrew the 3 screws) If you look at the logic board you will see that there are a number of capacitors connected to it. ( These look like mini batteries) If any of them have a bulge on the top, then thats what your problem is and you need to take the machine to an apple store to get repaired.

Not only do some bulge, some will display brownish gunk on them.
I've seen my fair share of them on PC's. I've also replaced my fair share of them too.

3 Ghz i3 iMac, Macbook Pro, Old G5, iPhone, iPad, and a drawer of iPods
My logic board was bad. It was a cold solder on a DIMM slot though.....
Was very hard to diagnose.
