charging issues Ibook g4

I have an ibook g4 1ghz bought in June 2004. My battery has ceased to charge. The charger ring stays green and it constantly says "calculating" in the menu bar. I have reset the PMU, which appeared to work. When I restarted the computer the charging ring changed to amber and began to charge for about 10 minutes, then went green again and ceased to charge. I have gone through this process a few times.

I had the same issue on my ibook g3 800 mhz shortly before the logic board went out. I am afraid this is going to happen again to my G4. Any thoughts or suggestions?
