My quad g5 just came back from AppleCare. Before it went in i was running OS X 10.4.5. When I got it back it is now running 10.4.6. It is also running warmer now. Has anyone notice that the system is running warmer after upgrading to 10.4.6?

My G5's fans have been coming on (and staying on) a lot more after the 10.4.6 upgrade.

my dual 2.7 has been running at 170 and 167 degrees i know it is not a quad core but i believe the temp is just about the same as before. plus i am always folding so i dont give my procesors a break, ever.

I don't know the temperature, I just know that my work area is a little warmer than it was before I took my system in for service.

Using Temperature Monitor, it looks to be around 110 on idle and under a render load it gets up to around 125. I don't have a measurement pre-10.4.6, though...

you can download the widget 'istat nano' from apples website it will let you know your processor temps, cpu usage, memory usage, disk space, network, processes, battery, temps and uptime.

only problem is that it 'phones home' but i use little snitch to prevent stuff from doing that ;)

Mine came with 10.4.6, and runs at about 105F at idle and 145F under a load when ripping/converting a DVD. I have not noticed my fans running high or loud except when booting up.

I have istat pro - does it have the "phone home" problem as well? What info is it communicating back to the mother ship, and is there a way to stop that? SUCH a useful widget, I would hate to have to remove it.
