Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone here actually purchased a ColorWare (http://www.colorwarepc.com) MacBook Pro or any other laptop for that matter. I really like the black and white colors, but im worried about the quality. I also really like the standard silver color for the macbook pro's but i wanted to get something special. Did anyone hear anything about them, does anyone have any photos, and what do you people think?

Thanks.

I've read a few reviews on their iPod colorizations, they seem to be of extremely high quality. I also had them email me some high-rez photos of Minis in various colors, they look pretty sharp! Just google for some reviews of Colorware iPods and you'll find some good reading material.

i myself would not do the colorware. for the simple reason that Apple probably wont cover it.
i would actually read their site for more info. or simply call apple to see what they say ..

http://www.colorwarepc.com/content.aspx?id=3

my suggestion.. and what i've done for MY mac mini, 20GB 4G color ipod, two cell phones, two PS2s... is to check these guys out.. great service.. and the stickers come right off..

http://www.skinit.com/

they have redone their entire site from when i ordered the last time. but great service.. best part about it... if you need to take it to apple.. and if needed.. you can take off the stickers.. with the actual paint job.. again.. they may not honor the 1 year warranty.

did a search on the apple site.. got way too many replies.. here's a few.

this one claims it d oes..

this one claims it doesnt..

according to this one.. they do sell you an additional year coverage for your ipod.

there's different opinions on it.. my suggestion.. call both apple and colorwarePC

Thanks for the info, however Im till hesitating:
- Because I live in switzerland I have to pay an exta 250$ for the delivery, while with apple its free.
- Im not sure about the keyboard, I dont think they have french and swiss keyboard layouts.
- They still dont have glossy screens as an option.
- And i have to wait 3 weeks for the delivery while with apple Its about a week.

As far a the company goes: these guys got their start as the coloring company for Alienware, and (aside from Macs) Alienware probably has the best design in the industry.

As far as quality goes: everyone I know who has gotten it has loved it.

As far as your situation goes: I'd call and ask them about the glossy screen and the keyboard.

don't you guys think 600$ is a bit too much for a paint job?. I've heard people complaining about 150$ extra for black macbook.

Those look awesome. I really like the red lol but it's a bit too flashy for my taste. Anyways, do you think you could order your MBP and have Apple send it to Colorware headquarters? Then they could probably paint it and send it to you? But first find out from Apple if it voids your warranty in anyway.

For the extra cost of the colour and the shipping why not look around to see if you could get it Laser Etched.

There have been a few people do it themselves and its looks alot more classy than the colour versions

I'll admit i have no idea how you would get this done but for the $600 you'd save i bet its possible.

The paint on these things is like what they use on cars (in a good way).

The reason people are *****ing about the Black MacBook is that all the coloring is in the case, which cost them $20 to make, whereas this is a high-quality paintjob.
