.m4v and .mp4

Is there any way to differentiate in iTunes between a .m4v and .mp4 files? Both are listed as "MPEG-4 Video" under kind, and I can't find any other properties that are different for the two types of files.

I have a PDA that I use as a video player, and I have a smart playlist that includes video podcasts that I like to watch on the go. But, of course, because it's not an iPod video, the .m4v files won't play. I want some way to put only the .mp4 files into this smart playlist...

The only place I've found in iTunes that actually shows the difference is the info section, under the summary tab, where it shows the location and the file extension.
