Hey guys,
I'm new to the world of Mac...and loving it and FCP and I'm just curious if anyone would know about editing uncompressed HD quicktime files in FCP. I'm about to begin production on a filmclip, shooting 16mm which will go through telecine and then into post. We don't have the budget to do an offline and then take it back into an online studio and our current windows systems couldn't handle uncompressed avi's and I'm pretty sure even with our Prem Pro Matrox RTX suite, it would struggle.....so we would have the film down converted to SD.
We can however get the files transfered to uncompressed quicktime files and was wondering if anyone knew how they might be edited in FCP. ie - how it would handle the footage. In saying that I would only be editing on a macbook pro with 2 gb of RAM and an external 500GB Firewire 800 Lacie Hard Drive so I'm not sure it would have enough grunt to get through the footage.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
