I have been hunting around for a prebuilt binary for PureFTPd, an excellent little FTP server. The only one I have found explicitly states that it was built for Panther. Since Panther and Tiger are both variants of OS X, is it safe to try and install the Panther program into Tiger? Being reasonably new to Mac OS X, I thought I would ask first, before taking a step that might "break" my Mac. Thanks!
Alternately, does anyone know of a prebuilt binary for PureFTPd for Tiger?
As a course of last resort, I have downloaded the source, and can always attempt a build from source - do this all the time in Linux - but I have no idea how many hurdles I may run into trying this in Mac OS X.
