USB-serial adapter and Virtual PC problem

Hi guys,

My first time here, I'm a complete n00by in the mac-world!

I tried to install a windows software for a client, using virtual PC. I already did this on another iBook of the same type as this one. Unfortunately the hardware that comes with this software needs to be connected via serial cable. It is possible to connect it using a usb-serial adapter, and I had this working on the other iBook.

If you run Virtual PC you can opt for activitating the USB devices and this is where the problem lies: on this iBook I do not seem to be able to get these devices activated when starting virtual PC.
The iBook is running the latest MacOS, I think (I'm not sure).

Can anyone please explain to me how I can get this sorted out?

Eternal gratitude would be upon you!
