When To Get A Macbook?

I will need to get a new laptop before I go back to college in the fall since I need something that will run Windows. Since the Macbook came out that seems like it will fit my needs very well. I dont know if I should wait until right before I go back to college in August or buy it now. Does anyone think that most of the bugs will be worked out by August and that I would be able to get a bug free system?

i would wait until july to order just in case they put out some sort of update, fix something or whatever. you already have a computer and it is only a few months so the small wait wont make that big of a difference

I would wait till July. I know here in Georgia (can't remember the dates) there certain times before going back to school that they allow you to purchase a computer and other related periphials and you do not have to pay sales tax for that item. But I am like coach_z...I would wait till July or right before school starts.

I like this thread.. I'm thinking about doing the same but need to know when the best time is.

I would wait until the wwdc in august. The prices might drop and something better could be added to the computer.

Why do you have to run windows? I was in college for a while...(8 years of undergrad and grad) and never ran into an issue of needing a PC only app.

I also need the same thing as the OP and well its ture, that I would mainly run windows from boot camp, I like the power and look of the mac book and might get one, for school.

And max OS 10 for all the fun stuff, But the same goes for me, not sure if I could get it now and enjoy it all summer or if I should wait ?

My major is Technical Support Specialist and all of the computers that we would be using run Windows and we are required to have a laptop that runs Windows.

I'm still ify as to weather or not I will wait till the end of summer to get my mac book or just get it now, I think I might wait as long as I can, but then I really hate waiting for a new version to come out then having to buy late in the generation.

Dmachine, as I went to bed I thought that was probably the case...my fingers were faster than the brain. An IT degree specific to the Windows OS would definitely require windows.

My major was pretty OS independent. Layout and simulation tools were in HP-UX and then Linux and could be run in windows or Mac OS X pretty easily. The statistics software was run off a VAX machine...later on PCs. So basically all I needed was a "computer" that had an office suite for reports and spreadsheets and a terminal emulator and SSH to get into the other tools.

Guys when do you think the next gen macbook will be out, Yes I know it just came out, but just wondering. I mean how often does a new gen ipod come out?

Do the apple labtops go by generations under one name IE: i book gen ?
