15" Whining Issues...will Apple do anything

I know there are about a million posts online about the 15" MBP whining issue. Along with the heat thing, on battery power mine just gets warm, it's only considerably hot when plugged in. Some people say the whining has been fixed now, others say it's not. Mine has serial number W8612 which is supposed to be a fairly recent release. However, mine still whines. It makes no noise when plugged in, only on battery power under no load(even with a USB mouse plugged in it's silent). In a nutshell, does anyone know if they (Apple) will let me send it in for service to correct the problem?
