HP 23" AIO hp 23-q055na

hi guys I have the following machine hp 23-q055na

and since yesterday I get a complete dead short on the PSU


as its an all in one it uses the laptop Type PSU so I got a universal 90watt psu


and its still the same ?


the light on the PSU just goes out when I connect it no power light nothing.

hence why id say its a dead short where would you guys say to begin ??


sorry I know this is a Mac forum but you guys have helped so much in the past with Mac problems

Normally when a PS fails and then replaced, things return to normal. The new PS may be fine so be sure to check out the motherboard and anything else that you can gain access to. I'm not familiar with that model HP but it might be a good idea if you can locate a schematic or service manual for it. Check for fuses. Nowadays, fuses are hard to find because they do not look like an ordinary fuse that we know.

I found the dead short on the motherboard


but discarded the motherboard and ordered a new one

That's some good trouble shooting. :) Most definitely a short on the motherboard would cause the symptom you described.

yeah there was a bad inductor if ive called it the correct name.

I removed it from circuit and the unit had power but wouldn't turn on

and as I didn't have another to replace it with I just ordered a replacement board and that solved the issue
