Welcome to our forums.

You might want to check Amazon.com or www.monoprice.com for the proper adapter and enclosure. Not sure if either has what you're looking for but easy enough to check.

As long as you have the proper enclosure for the SSD you can as suggested above maybe go with a USB 3 connection or Thunderbolt 2. Since we really do not know which SSD you have and the type of connectors it has, the question is a bit hard to answer.

Why not look for USB-c?

i would love to i don't have a usb c on this mac just thunderbolt 2

That's right as USB-c (Thunderbolt 3) did not appear on the iMac until the 2017 version. As far as an enclosure for your SSD that connects via TB 2, I don't know of any. You might give Fry's a try to see what they have in stock. www.frys.com

Then you'll need a USB-C to Thunderbolt 2 adapter.

Just a reminder of a slightly different situation not too many years ago... ;D
