I have in itunes tried sync my iphone lost all my music
did a sync on my ipad lost all my music.
I can see it is syncing to my old imac which is
not turned on and not working anymore.
If you search on google nearly everybody
finds itunes is worst software ever it goes
from bad to worst for every update i am
now useing third party software to get my
music back.
Also home sharing only works now and again.

It sounds like you haven't read or heeded the many posts here of possible iTunes solutions nor heeded the suggestions to include appropriate details of Mac equipment and OS versions.

Maybe post back with such info included.

At least it's nice to read that some third party software has helped you fix things.

I have used iTunes to sync music to my iPod Nano for many years and I sync different smart playlists to keep the music selection fresh or for specific occasions and not one have I had a problem. I'm not even sure what sync'ing to old iMac means.

PS: I think I'd sure look into this phenomenon as that is NOT how things are supposed to work:
I can see it is syncing to my old imac which is

A magical iMac perhaps… ;-)

But definitely not normal.

Since your device(s) can only sync with one computer, just set them up with your new(er) Mac and continue syncing with that Mac.

And maybe ignore the sig a friend uses:
I named my iPhone "Titanic".
It's syncing now.

:D
