You can read about it at this LINK.

Looks like Apple has pulled a "Microsoft" and extended the use of 32 bit apps. That means your 32 bit apps (Office 2011 for example) will be alive and well throughout this year and most of 2019 until the next release of macOS.

Good news or bad news? Let's have your comments. :)

Rather good news for me as I can now delay my decision about staying with 2011, buying 2016 or going 365 subscription.

There are rumours of a 2019 version in the pipeline as well.

Of course, the downside for some may be that 2011 is no longer supported by MS.

Good news or bad news?

Well good news in that it pushed me into upgrading my old Photoshop Elements to a 64 bit version but bad news in that I didn't need to for another year and could have spent the money on something useful like 'cigarettes and whiskey and wild, wild women'. I don't actually smoke or drink whiskey but...............

That's an interesting announcement. I really wasn't expecting Mojave to support 32 bit apps given their original annoouncement some months ago.

Ditto. Although I won't be going the subscription route .

That's true as MS dropped support for 2011 some time ago. However, as long as it continues to work I see no reason to need support from MS.

For my 2009 iMac, this doesn't make a difference since it's now been officially obsoleted by Mojave. For my MBP, all the apps I use are already 64-bit, so this is a non-story for me.

Agree w/ Sly - gives us some 'breathing room', although in retirement not as much a concern for me - currently on my MBPro and just checked my 32 vs. 64-bit apps in the System Report, sorted w/ the 32-bit apps in the pic below - interestingly, the ones that I've circled also have 64-bit apps on my laptop - not sure why the older 32-bit ones need to be listed (any help to get rid of these?) - there are 3 other ones that I want to update, including my 'password app', SplashID - have already contacted them and have an email promising a 64-bit update. Thanks for any help. Dave :)

@RadDAve, I would assume the older iWork apps may be in a folder in your Applications folder? It's been so long since I removed them. The same may be true with the Canon software, if you have a Canon folder, check in there?

Dave, the search for apps that yields that table searches all drive, including backups. So if you have older versions in Time Machine, for example, those older versions appear on the list. Try going to that page in System Preferences with no externals attached and I think they will disappear from the list.

Thanks Guys - thanks for the responses - I had no external drives attached (use 4 to do duplicate TM & CCC backups) when checking - but went to Apps and found an old 'iWork 2009' folder (pic below) - deleted and the 32-bit Keynote/Numbers/Pages apps disappeared - will check on the other apps in question - Dave :)

As always I am excited about the impending public beta release of Mo Harvey (I believe that is the pronunciation). Apart from function and version changes I am looking forward to a true Dark Mode as apposed to just a dark tool bar. I believe that some native apps will also display in dark mode as well.

Hi Rod - no 'R' - proper pronunciation is "mo HA vee", i.e. emphasizes on 2nd syllable + a long 'e' - YouTube audio below for those interested. Dave :)

Well, if we're talkin' New England, the 'r' is not pronounced. ;)
