Hi I have a Intel Imac with 1.5gb ram and every so often i'll try load the internet through firefox and it just hangs and times out, yet I have a pc right next to me and on the same network, a router with DHCP is there any reason why it would just hang?

are you on wireless or wired to the Router? try goin into your settings on the Apple and set it for Auto Detect Settings, Disconnect, Reconnect , reboot then you should be fine. The first time i hooked my Mac upto my network it was a lil laggy, i did the same thing i told you above and it worked fine. Firefox does run faster then Safari on my Mini, but try using Safari and see if its any faster then firefox.

If you still have a problem, let one of us here know again so we can help you more

I don't believe FireFox has been rewritten to work natively with the x86 processor, it's using "Rosetta" for translation from x86 to PowerPC language. This could be why it seems the internet is slow, or any other PowerPC app for that matter. Use Safari instead and let us know. There's a good speed test site at http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest that you can try.
