I have been with TalkTalk in the UK for the past 5 years for Fiber internet and had the following set-up:
TalkTalk Router connected to Fiber enabled wall socket (phone line)
iMac and a host of other devices connected to TalkTalk router via Wi-Fi
Airport Express connected via Wi-Fi to TalkTalk router and audio connections to my Hi-Fi so that I can play iTunes over my Hi-Fi
This has worked perfectly for many years.
Today I changed ISP and am now with Sky (still Fiber). I've replaced the TalkTalk router with the new Sky one, I'm connected to the Internet, my iMac and all other devices are connected to the Sky router via Wi-Fi. All is good.
Except for Airport Express. I've tried turning it off, I've tried rebooting the iMac, I've got the latest version of Airport Utility but I just can't get Airport Utility to see it. It's been so long since I originally set it up that I can't remember what I did other than I remember I had to use Airport Utility and that it did take a while before I could get it recognised. From memory it was a case of clicking a search button and Airport Utility would search for the base unit but I don't even see a search/scan button just a Globe saying Internet (with a green light) and underneath that no units could be found and that it will keep searching.
I definitely never connected the Airport Express to the router via CAT5 as they are in two different rooms and I've never plugged the Airport Express in near the router as there is only one power socket there.
Anyone know how to get Airport Utility to search and locate the Airport Express?
