• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have been seriously considering getting final cut pro. Not right this minute, as I am currently using hit film pro and I don’t technically “need” to change.

Possibly in the future. Possibly never. I don’t know...

But it has definitely been on my mind. Just wondering how it compares to other software (preferably HitFilm). How is the learning curve? How difficult, etc.

I’ve been using HitFilm Pro for a little while now and I’m just now starting to find my groove. There is so much to learn. I’m sure this is the case with any software you use. But as far as convenience (owning a Mac) Final Cut sure seems nice.

Apple will allow you to use Final Cut Pro X for a free 30 day trial. You might want to do that before deciding to purchase it as it is expensive software. Go to this LINK.

@Joak

Just note that the free trial of the latest Pro X requires macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 or later. You didn't mention which Operating System you have on your Mac.
