External HD question

I want an external HD for my iBook that only has a 40gig HD. I mostly want it to store music. If I store music on the external HD will I be able to play the music from it thru iTunes or will I have to put it on my internal hard drive to play it? Also, will any external HD work or do I have to get any certain one to work with a mac? Are there any certain brands you would reccomend?

No, you will be able to play it thorough iTunes as long as the external drive is plugged in. Pretty much any external USB 2 or Firewire drive will work fine, you can even build your own.
