When I open Firefox, the following shows up in the search window at the top, middle section of the page, "http://search.hmapsanddirections.co/?uc=20180218&ad=appfocus1&source=g-ccc3-lp0-bb8&uid=3b83a4db-c11a-445c-a4fc-f50ed3f28ad3&i_id=maps_100.7&page=newtab&" I have a feeling it's malware. Can anyone tell me how to eliminate it? It doesn't really bother anything. I can still put what I'm searching for in the window, but I'd like to get rid of it. Thanks.

Thanks, but....

It sounds like you may have picked up some malware!!

Have a look here:
https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-search-hmapsanddirections-co/
And here:
https://www.google.ca/search?client....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..0.1.178....0.m7XUqQXUt1w

And then I'd head off to and dowload and run this:
MALWAREBYTES FOR MAC
https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/

Thanks Patrick. I downloaded the Malwarebytes for Mac, then ran it. It said "You're clean". Unfortunately, I still the same junk in my Firefox search window.

Sorry to hear that, so now best go back and read some of the hits on the sites I provided above for a fix unless someone comes up with a known solution here they might post.

You're welcome, and BTW, what do you have in your Firefox preference for a home page??

Not something close to the address being shown I hope!!

Or set it to nothing or maybe google or ???? Your choice.

That was it! Don't know when that happened or how, but it's now Google, thanks to you. I think I need a brain transplant now. Thanks so much!

Thanks Ian, but sometimes it's just a matter of thinking back to the basics. :Blushing:
