Would you allow your children to go on a slumber party?

Hi guys! Given the current situation of our society nowadays, would you still allow your children go to slumber parties? I have experienced it before and of course, as a grown-up teenager, it was all fun. But nowadays.... I have some reservations about it. What are your thoughts on this?

My kids are grown, but these days I would say only if I knew all the kids and their parents really well.

I doubt you are sending your kids to slumber parties with people you don't know really well. So is this really an issue? My daughter (10) sleeps over her cousin's place, my neighbors place or a couple of good friends from school whose parents I know very well. Beyond that, she has never asked for any additional slumber parties.

I let my two sons go, but then at 53 and 50 I guess I could not stop them lol!

I would not if they were under 15.

Hummm, I see. Last sunday my friend told me that her 13-year old son will go for a slumber party. At the beginning, she agreed and later she had a little regret since she just knew a few of those teenagers and she's a little bit worried that her son might learn some bad behaviors. so I asked the question here and want to know different people's opinions

Honestly, if you haven't taught your kids well and they enter their teenage and older years, they will be exposed to situations where they will have to make the "right" choice. You can't be there all the time, so you've gotta equip them with the ability to make the right decisions. If you are worried about a 13 year old making the right decisions, I think you screwed up not teaching them when they were younger.

These days parents forget about parenting and try to be their kids friend and all that. Once the child is an adult, you can have any sort of relationship you want, but through the formative years, you need to be a parent and a guiding light toward good.

Au contraire!
It's not possible for parents to know all the parents of their kid's friends at school, and the friends of the kid hosting the slumber party that are not good friends with your their kid (some might be relatives that you don't know at all).

Again, that depends on the age of the kids. I wouldn't send a < 10 year old to another person's house whom I don't know well. Once they are teenagers, that dynamic changes.

I suppose you could keep their numbers?

Do older kids have slumber parties these days? I remember it only being a "thing" for pre-teens in my day and for my own children. We like to think that if we've taught our children our values, by the time they are in high school, they will make good decisions. Unfortunately, cranial development hasn't caught up to that presumed social acumen. You have to wait until they are in their mid-twenties to know if all that teaching gets put into practice.

Funny thing is we only had slumber parties when we were 9-14. LOL

When you hit 55 everything starts falling apart.

And when you hit 65, everything fell apart. LOL
