I run tiger on a windows 2000 network. When searching for files on a share it sometimes finds the file, sometimes it just pops up with 0 results found. Yet when I manually find it and search again it finds it.
When I switch the mac off and back on it can't find it again. Is there an easy solution to this? Can I index network drives like how I used to on mac os 9?

G5 1.8GHz, 3GB RAM; Macbook Air
As long as it's mounted on the desktop, Spotlight should be able to search it.

Searcing using spotlight does not look on my network drives which are mounted on the desktop, maybe im not mounting it right? I would find files by going into my share and pressing apple + F.
