I have a Windows 10 iso image which I am trying to install on my IMac.
Boot camp assistant appears to work okay and says Mac will be partioned as per my settings.
However it proceeds awhile downloading support software and then to installation.
Then I meet the problem where It stops saying the drive cannot be partioned.
I’m running OS High Sierra with 750gb free on the drive and looking to partion about 100gb.
There are a few programs I would like to use which don’t operate on the Mac.
I’ve searched online to no avail.

Well tell jus about your iMac.

If it originally came with a Superdrive get the Windows 10 DVD.

A description of your iMac (year and model) would help. Also include which version of macOS you're currently running. And lastly, unless you need Windows 10 to play games or to run a graphic intensive program, we recommend that you consider installing Windows 10 using virtual software. VirtualBox from Oracle is free and fully supports Windows 10.

If you decide to go that route, be sure to also download and install the "Guest Additions". This month's issue of MacLife Magazine has a nice instructional article on how to install VirtualBox and Windows 10.

I subscribe to both Macworld and MacLife digital editions. Lately, Macworld is nothing but reviews of junk software and advertisements. Very little to sink your teeth in. On the other hand MacLife (which is owned and published by a UK company) has been very informative with some good articles. The digital edition of MacLife is only $18 a year through Zinio and they also give you 3 free issues of Apple Magazine.

Thanks I'll check those out.

You are right about what MacWorld has become. Been a long time since I looked at MacLife. Had a quick look at Apple Magazine. Don't think I was aware of that one but it looks interesting.

I have a 2017 27” 5k Mac running High Sierra OS
Will consider Virtual Box if no further luck installing on a partition

If your 5K iMac is like mine and uses Flash Storage (SSD) instead of a standard HHD, that means it's using APFS. And right now there are problems setting up Boot Camp with APFS. If that's the case, your best bet to get Windows 10 running is to use virtual software.

I agree re Macworld and I, likewise prefer MacLife.

Your are fortunate, perhaps, in that Apple Magazine in the UK is £39 per year and only available via the App Store on iOS devices on an auto-renewal basis. Firstly, I think that's a bit steep and secondly, with my memory, I'd forget to cancel the auto-renewal:Oops:
