Hi there.

I am wondering if someone knows how I would go about copying an entire DVD to my hard disk (OS X). I am going to be travelling and I'd like to watch a movie - I think watching it from the HDD instead of the DVD drive would save the battery, correct?

In the days when I used windows, I'd just use something link dvd shrink or decrypter. Is there something like this for OS X?

TIA.

It rips, it's easy, and you can use DVD player to play the output from your harddrive. They have great forums as well.

^ That definitely works, but the output is the same size as the DVD (4.7Gb) so you'll use up your HD pretty fast if you put a few DVDs on there. Handbrake can compress videos with DivX and have a really good looking movie that only takes up about 300Mb.

MactheRipper definitely works though.

7.6Gb DVD converted by Handbrake to 640 x 480 = ~1.2Gb.
