My point is every time I read something about Vista, it becomes less of an Operating System, and more of an antivirus program. An antivirus program that costs $400.

I would almost agree with you but at this point any stories about Vista I take as speculation. There have been so many reworks and scraps of that operating system that there is no telling what the final result will be whenever the public gets to see it. You are gonna see alot of articles blasting it and some praising it, much like any other technological product. We will just have to wait and see, but I think when it is finally released it is going to be one slick operating system. Gates knows what he is up against and he won't let his software teams fail.

Did you know that BIll Gates' net worth has dropped $40 billion since 1999.

And that means what? His net worth has nothing to do with what type of operating system Vista will be. If you can afford to lose $40 billion and still be filthy rich I think you are doing just fine.

In my opinion, the second a single Windows computer gets a virus, his software teams have failed already. It's a disgrace that the largest software company in the world can't make the largest operating system in the world virus-proof, or at least less virus-prone. Apple did it. Why can't Microsoft?

Because they want to give you an alternative to perfect, boring world of OS X where nothing (apart from what you are doing) happens. Never felt that shot of adrenalin while fighting against all those worms, viruses and unpredicted system behaviour ?

I'm not saying that Vista is going to be another piece of crap, but it is definitely not going to be revolutionary os. And I'm almost sure it's not going to be immune to viruses and stuff like that. The answer is simple, too many people use Microsoft's products so there is much more maniacs creating all that destructive software and much more newbies running that kind of things (hoping for free porn etc.).

That is one of the most ridiculous things people always tell me when I talk about Windows and viruses. Believe me, plenty of people have tried (and failed) to make a virus for OS X.

Not just OSX, but Linux and Unix as well.

Ridiculous? No, that's a fact, Windows is the biggest playground for that kind of people. It's unsecure, popular and as I said, majority of laics use it (read: guinea-pigs).
I never said that this is the reason why there are no viruses on Mac, :mac: is just better and harder to break (I'm not saying impossible because nothing is :miner: ).

Really? Did you know that for some time, Symantec was offering $50000 to anyone who could write a virus that would infect just two OS X machines? Don't you think that if it was possible, someone would have done it?

Not to burst your bubble, but check your facts before you post. Symantec NEVER offered money for anyone who could write an OSX virus. A company called DVForge held a contest that asked for someone to write a virus that would affect two Mac computers in Hendersonville, TN. The prize for winning this contest was $25,000. DVForge then offered to double the prize money to $50,000 if a Symantec employee or contractor was the one to write the virus. Unfortunately for legal reasons the contest was ended after one day. At no time did Symantec offer the money or hold the contest. In the future, google is your friend.
