I'm looking to buy a new Macbook. Right now, my portable is a 14" iBook 1GHz with 768MB. I do a lot of work in Photoshop, and I've heard mixed things about how it runs on the Intel Macs. But will it at least be faster than on the iBook?

The MacBook isn't out yet, so no one really knows how it will run using Rosetta.

It [Photoshop] won't be native until sometime in '07, though.

Are you sure they're not out yet?

They are not out yet, at least not in the U.S.

I read some rumors that the release would be today, but they aren't out yet.

I'm talking about the 15" one. They are definitely out already. I went to look at them at the Apple store last weekend.
I was just wondering if anybody has one and has tried Photoshop on it...

Yep.

Macbook = Consumer level laptop with good specs.

Macbook Pro = Pro-sumer level laptop with excellent specs.

Clarify! :mac:

I'm going to venture that the iBook G4 will probably perform better in Photoshop CS2 than a MacBook Pro emulating it.

Someone may wish to dispute this but Rosetta emulation isn't up to 1GHz G4 speed from what I have used, including quite intensive tasks in the CS2 apps.

CS2 isnt that bad provided you max the ram out. Strangely though it runs better on the iMacs than it does on a MBP

im not blown away with performance on my intel-imac, but then again i do work on dual 2.5ghz G5s so i might have a jaded view.

im just ready to see how CS3 is gonna cook in my intel core
