I have a 56" 4K smart TV on my wall and I was thinking maybe get a macmini and use that as my display.
With a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard ther's no reason I have to sit right in front of the screen.

Do I give up much on video performance going with a new macmini?

I don't really understand your question, but you could do a web search and see what others have done or say.

Try searching on 'mac mini using a 56" 4K smart TV' etc:
https://www.google.ca/search?client...F-8&gfe_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=F9gHWvL4MdHe8Af81aq4Dw

And hey… top hit, right from the Mothership says:
Using 4K displays, 5K displays, and Ultra HD TVs with your Mac
https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT206587

Might give you the info you want. :Blushing:
