Is there any other good progams to rip CDs on a Mac using the LAME encoder? I know there is a LAME plug-in for iTunes, but I want to be able to add the Artist and Album Name to the file names when I rip music. I know you can use an Apple Script to rename afterwards, but then I'd have to:

Rip the CD
Rename the files using Apple Script
Delete old file names from iTunes
Re-add new file names in iTunes

is there an easier way so I don't have to delete and re-add each album into iTunes?

Why would you have to do all that?

Just rip the tracks and edit the ID3 tags in iTunes and then run the script to change the filenames to match the ID3 tags...

Basically the same as if you were using iTunes' built-in rip functionality as far as I can see...

So when you run the AppleScript it doesn't mess up the file target source in iTunes cause the file has been renamed? I haven't recieved my iMac yet so I havn't tried it out.

I just renamed a file in my music folder and it played fine...
I think OS X tracks these things...

Same if I move an application: The shortcut in the dock will still work anyway...

Cool, thanks for the help. I wanted to know that before I rip all my music again.

One more question though, does a Mac also ignore "The" when alphabetizing file names (ie: "The Ataris") like it does for the Artists tag in iTunes?

Sorry for the late reply:

Yeah, iTunes will ignore whatever is the article in your country...
(So in the U.S. it ignores "the", in Germany it ignores "Der, die, das" etc...)
