I have for many years had a restorer polish for CDs and wonder if it would be safe to use on an iPhone screen?

What exactly are you trying to do to the screen? Clean it? Remove scratches? If only to clean the screen, I recommend lens cleaner and a soft tissue. If the screen is scratched or maybe become a bit foggy, then it's best to just replace it. I would not use CD restoration polish as that may damage the screen to where you won't be able to use it.

I use liquid car wax on my CD’s when they are dirty/scratched. I’m not saying that it would work on an iPhone screen, but it could.

I wouldn't use anything that might leave a residue of any sort like wax. A lens cleaning solution should be ok I think.

My guess is that the "polish" that you've been using contains a very, very mild abrasive in order to clean up the bottom of the discs. I would definitely NOT use this on an iPhone as it is GLASS and not PLASTIC like CD's, DVD's, and the like.

I use individually packaged alcohol wipes, and then dry the screen with a lens cloth. Works like a charm and doesn't damage anything.

Maybe, but I’ve used wax on glass (windshield) before, with not an issue.

Wax has no abrasive compounds in it. If the polish that's being used with a disc cleaner does, then it's a problem.
