I used restore from y old iPhone's backup to set up my new iPhone SE. Until I get a nano Sim card I am using an out of date one so I still need to keep my old iPhone.

At present my iMac continues to regard the SE as a new iPhone and asks f I want to set it up as a new iPhone or restore from a backup.

How do I resolve this?

Just continue to set it up as a new iPhone. You've already restored your apps and data via the backup, now you have to set it up with your Apple ID and password. If that continues to be a problem, you'll need to wait until you get the new SIM card and deactivate your older phone.
