I early Beta'd and had zero issue, now I'm still on the "beta" as I haven't bothered with the update, everything is working fine, especially word 2010.
If you want, you can re-download GIMP from here, https://download.gimp.org/mirror/pub/gimp/v2.8/osx/, to make sure you get the 64bit version you need.
.Further research into GIMP suggests that the installation automatically selects 32 or 64 bit according to the Mac OS being used BUT there doesn't seem to be a way of finding out what it decided
I have a Macbook Pro vintage 2008 which, on the one hand, was too ancient to accept Sierra. On the other hand, put an SSD in the machine. If High Sierra "likes" SSDs, is it plausible to hope that the Pro can "digest" High Sierra, or are there other considerations?

The article says, "Apple is aware of the issue with select third-party SSDs," which implies that other third-party SSDs may also be affected.
I note that CCC 5 is a paid update now but is it necessary for High Sierra backups? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think not.

I took the plunge and installed HS on my mid-2015 MBP. Worked fine with the 1TB SSD. Then ran CCC to clone to an external HFS+ formatted SSD, that went well, didn't prompt to change the format. Booted from the external drive, worked fine. I'm running CCC5. Hope that helps someone.
